For more than 40 years, Clinton Lindsay has been a driving force in the development and promotion of Reggae music in the United States. In the Fall of 1976, Clinton became the second of the only two Black students on WTNY FM, the campus-based radio station of his Alma Mater, New York Institute Of Technology (Dr. Bob Lee of WBLS FM fame, was the other). After graduating with his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Communication Arts, in 1981, on October 7, 1982, he joined the staff at WHBI 105.9FM (which was later changed to WNWK), where he stayed until 1997. During those years, Mr. Lindsay was involved in a variety of functions aimed at the continued development of Reggae music in the United States, which was started by his colleagues before him – Ken Williams, Jeff Barnes, Karl Anthony, Earl Chin, Gil Bailey, and Ronnie McGowan. Lindsay however, paid special attention to the much neglected genre known as – dancehall. Among his many functions, he wore the hat of a promoter, booking agent, artist manager, journalist, chart compiler, publisher, founder of New York’s first Reggae award presentation – The Tamika Reggae Awards – which was named for his daughter. He headed the award presentations from 1989 – 2000. Over the years, Clinton Lindsay has lent his talent to various radio stations in the New York/Tri state area, including WWRL, WRTN, and WPAT, while commuting to WRTC/Hartford, and WYBC/New Haven. He has also taken the time to tutor outstanding broadcasters like Valerie Newman, Chris The Dubb Master, Byron Kerr Jr., Dahved Levy, Marlon Burrell, and the late TK Smith.

During the 1980’s, Clinton Lindsay was very instrumental in launching the international careers of such Reggae superstars as: Papa San, Lt. Stitchie, Shabba Ranks, Chevelle Franklyn, Super Cat, Tiger, Cocoa Tea, Admiral Bailey, Snow, Pinchers, Shinehead, Major Mackerel, Reggie Stepper, Sister Charmaine, Derrick Parker, Cutty Ranks, Sanchez, Ninja Man, Robert French, Peter Metro, Chaka Demus, Little John, Lady G, Wayne Wonder, Shelly Thunder, Wicker Man, Early B, Lovindeer, Flourgon, Anthony Malvo, Worl-A-Girl, Professor Nuts, Half Pint, Pliers, Junior Reid, Captain Barkey, Beres Hammond, Michael Palmer, Echo Minott, Shaggy, General Trees, L.U.S.T. and Lady Ann, among others.

Mr. Lindsay relocated to South Florida in December 2002. Upon his arrival, he immediately joined VIBEZ FM, until 2005, when he branched out on his own to operate LYNKS FM. His record of accomplishments speaks for itself. Some of the biggest names in the industry, owe their careers to the unselfish deeds of Clinton Lindsay. His contributions to the development of Reggae music in the USA, is an undeniable fact that should be noted in the history books – “to whom credit is due, credit is given!”. Considered a musical connoisseur by the industry in general, and by his many listeners in particular, Clinton Lindsay continues to open doors for today’s upcoming artists, producers, and managers. And he continues to compile the longest running and respected local Reggae chart in America – The New York Top 30 Reggae Chart, and of February 2003, The South Florida Top 25 Reggae Chart. Join him on his daily trip on the ever popular “The Foundation – where it all begins.” He does his daily program on The Foundation Radio Network, Monday – Friday 12:00 – 3:00 pm, and it is also carried by various radio stations around the globe.
